What is really important in the preparation of tofu is the squeezing. Tofu has usually a lot of water and we do not want to have it. We want the tofu absorbs the spices, marinades like a sponge. Without spices tofu tastes quite neutrally, better said has a flavor of nothing. And that is the great thing about tofu, we can spice it up according to our own preferences. You can squeeze it out by placing something heavy on the tofu, or you can buy a great tofu press, see below. If you cooking tofu more than once, the money can invest in a tofu press. I do not want to miss them anymore. Firstly, it goes faster and you have no mess. Put the press upright and the water can drain easily.
Marinate the tofu
When you have squeezed the tofu, you can put it in the marinade. You cut the pressed tofu to the desired size or just leave it as a block. You can also make the marinade while you are waiting for the tofu.
You can of course also take other vegetables. Just take what you like to eat or have on hand. For example, corn, mushrooms, Tomatoes … Here you can really take what you like best. In my opinion the onion adding a certain something.

- 2 Naturtofu
- 6 EL Olivenöl
- 6 TL Tomatenmark
- 5 EL Apfelessig
- 8 EL Sojasauce
- 4 Knoblauchzehen
- ½ TL Chiliflocken
- Salz, Pfeffer, Curry, Paprika
- ein Paar Tropfen Liquid smoke
- Press the tofu it will take about 10 min in the press.
- In the meantime mix all the ingredients in a sufficiently large container. The tofu should fit too.
- Cut the tofu to the desired size, I cut it into cubes, and put into the container. Marinade the tofu on every side.
- Cover the container. If you have a lid, you can use it.
- Place in the refrigerator overnight.
